TIPS TO KEEP YOUR HOME SMELL FRESH WITH PETS!

Home pets offer so many benefits. It helps reduce stress, minimizes feeling of loneliness, and encourages you to be more physically active.

Our pets are more than just animals who roam in our homes—they’re family. Family who, unfortunately, can leave a less-than-desirable odor behind. Although you might be used to your pet’s smell, visitors will likely notice it as soon as they enter your home. 

But fear not! We’ve compiled our top tips to keep your pet-friendly home feeling fresh

Keep your Pets Clean – Give them a shower twice a week. You shouldn’t use pet shampoo too often, a quick wash down with plain water can make a world of difference. An effective way to keep odors at bay is to ensure that all of your pet supplies are cleaned regularly and laundering their beddings/ pillows weekly. Don’t forget to clean any areas that your pet might come into contact with, like the bed and couch. Remove all cushions, pillows and so forth, and vacuum the furniture thoroughly.

Embrace Baking Soda – This is an eco-friendly, low cost item that can be used so many ways-including absorbing the smell of pet. Just as an open box in your fridge will help reduce bad smells, baking soda left throughout your home will absorb odors naturally.

You can also sprinkle baking soda into carpets and onto furniture. Leave it overnight, and vacuum it up the next day. It can safely be added to a litter box to reduce the smell. Isn’t it Wonderful!!

Maintain the Litter Box – If you have cats, be sure to scoop their litter boxes daily, the bacteria can be a major source of smell. Scented litters are a bad idea because they won’t remove the smell, they’ll cover it up. Plus, many cat’s don’t like the smell of scented litter and will take it upon themselves to find an alternative litter box stand it.

Groom your Pet – Since pet hair and dander can be a source of odor, brush your pet frequently to minimize shedding. Do you know that pets love to be groomed! Especially Cats, they love brushing their hair. That way you can control where the excess fur ends up.

Clean the walls – Pets often lie down against wall, leaving behind their natural oils which can be a little smelly. Therefore, keep your walls clean using a enzymatic cleaner.

Shampoo and Vacuum carpets regularly – Clean carpets are the key to keeping that dog smell out of your home.
