Method #1

The use of Aluminum Foil is good to get rid of rust. Tear a small piece of Aluminum foil and soak in in a bowl of water or vinegar. Rub the rusted tool with the foil until the rust comes off.

Method #2

Another DIY approach for rust removal from your tool is to use acidic solution like lemon juice and vinegar along with a little salt on the rusted areas. Leave for a few hours and wipe them off.

Method #3

Rusted tools can also be dusted with baking soda or mixed with water or vinegar to make a paste. Let the paste sit for an hour or so before brushing it off.

Of course, the easiest way to prevent rust is to keep your tools dry and out of heat and damp environments in the first place. Tools should be regularly cleaned, oiled and maintained too
